Jane Birkin

(1946-2023), Actress and fashion model

Sitter in 7 portraits
Actress and singer. Appeared as the blonde would-be fashion model in Antonioni's Blow Up (1966). After Birkin's first marriage to composer John Barry ended, she married French singer-provocateur Serge Gainsbourg in 1968. Together they recorded Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus (1969). Their erotic appeal ensured the single was banned by the BBC, but it went on to become an international hit. Featured in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in June 2001, Birkin was Awarded an OBE for her services to acting and to Anglo-French cultural relations.
