A prolific and highly respected composer, Michael Nyman's work encompasses operas and string quartets, film soundtracks and orchestral concertos, but he is best known as a film composer. Nyman's most notable scores include many Peter Greenaway films, such as The Draughtsman's Contract and The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, and the Jane Campion film The Piano.
