Stewart Granger

(1913-1993), Actor

Born James Lablache Stewart, Granger changed his name and made his first screen appearance in 1933. He gained prominence in romantic film roles in the 1940s including Waterloo Road (1945). Granger married his second wife Jean Simmons in 1950, having co-starred with her in Adam and Evelyne (1949). He then went to Hollywood in 1950 and appeared in King Solomon's Mines (1950) and Scaramouche and The Prisoner of Zenda, both in 1952.
