Seen by some as Britain's answer to Elvis Presley, Donegan was the leading figure in skiffle, with 34 hits between 1946 and 1972; among his best known songs were 'Cumberland Gap' (his first UK No 1), 'Don't You Rock Me Daddy-O', 'Putting on the Style', 'Does your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavour on the Bedpost over Night' and 'Jimmy Brown the Newsboy'.
